Shamrock ‘n Roll Beach 5K New Smyrna Beach

The Shamrock ‘n Roll Beach 5K New Smyrna Beach is the largest St. Patrick’s Day 5K in Central Florida. It takes place on Saturday, March 14, 2026, starting at the Flagler Avenue Beach Approach Boardwalk in New Smyrna Beach, FL. Registration and packet pickup open at 8:00 AM, with the 5K race gun going off at 9:00 AM sharp.
The course runs entirely on the beach—through firm, hard-packed sand along the Atlantic shoreline. All skill levels are welcome. Whether you’re racing for a PR or doing it in a leprechaun hat with your dog at your side, this event has a lane for you. Participants receive a finisher medal, event t-shirt, race bib, and free professional photos. A chip-timed course means official results for everyone.
Bringing your dog? The St. Patty Paws 2K runs alongside the 5K. Dogs of all sizes are welcome in this 1.24-mile beach run for four-legged athletes and their humans.
After the finish line, the celebration moves to Flagler Tavern at 414 Flagler Ave. Every finisher receives Flagler Tavern Bucks to use toward food and drinks. Top finishers in each age group are recognized on stage. Then the rest of the Shamrock & Roll weekend takes over Flagler Avenue—Irish music, green beer, the Great Potato Feast, the Mac & Cheese Challenge, and live entertainment at venues up and down the strip.
This is St. Patrick’s Day weekend done the NSB way: outdoors, on the beach, and absolutely worth building a trip around.

Insider Tips for the Shamrock ‘n Roll Beach 5K New Smyrna Beach
Arrive at 7:30 AM. Registration opens at 8:00 AM, but parking and packet pickup lines move faster if you beat the crowd by half an hour. The beach vibes are also spectacular that early — the Atlantic is usually glassy at sunrise, and you’ll have the whole shoreline to yourself before the crowd arrives.
Dress for the sand. This race runs on the beach, not pavement. Road shoes work fine on firm-packed sand near the waterline, but trail shoes or running shoes with grip give you more confidence. Go barefoot if that’s your thing — plenty of runners do.
Go for the costume. Prizes are awarded for the best St. Patrick’s Day costume. Green wigs, shamrock sunglasses, full leprechaun suits — the field goes all in. It’s a race and a parade at the same time.
Bring cash or a card for after the race. Flagler Tavern Bucks are included in your registration, but if you plan to stay for the Shamrock & Roll festivities on Flagler Avenue — the live music, the Mac & Cheese Challenge, the Great Potato Feast — you’ll want extra spending money. Most vendors on Flagler are card-friendly.
Make it a weekend, not a day trip. St. Patrick’s Day Weekend on Flagler Avenue runs Thursday through Monday with live music, food specials, and green everything at every venue. If you’re coming from out of town, one night is never enough.
